East Hanover Recreation
Some bicycle local trails. Some jog around Lurker Park. Some
hike Patriot's Path. Others work out at the Madison Y. The kids play for town
baseball, softball, basketball, football and soccer leagues.
East Hanover recreation has something for everyone.
Whether you're an accomplished athlete, a weekend golfer, or a
parent or member of one of the kids' teams, we hope to bring you the excitement
of the East Hanover sports and East Hanover recreation.

Summer Job Openings
Student Activities Club (SAC)
Summer SAC & Summer Playground
Volunteer Coach Applications
SAC is run by the Recreation Department with the Board of
Education as an after-school activities club. It's held in the Recreation Center
from 3pm to 6pm daily during the school year for children in the East Hanover
school system grades K through 8. Certified teachers and counselors are there to
help children with their homework. Parents can pick their children up between 3
and 6 pm. Snacks, games, movies, and outside activities are offered. For information, call the Recreation

Summer SAC and Summer Playground registration will be taken April 5
through June 16 at the Recreation Center. East Hanover children entering the
1st grade through 8th grade in the Fall are welcome to register. Both
programs run from June 29 through August 7 at Lurker Park.
Summer SAC runs from 2-6 pm; the fee is $65/week.
Summer Playground runs from 9am - 2pm; the fee is $180 per child for six weeks.
Basketball for boys and girls in grades 1-8 runs from November through March,
with registration in September and October. Girls Basketball for girls in
grades 1-8 runs September through November with registration in September.

Open to East Hanover children ages 4 -14. Starts January 20
at 3:45 pm at Hanover lanes. Cost is $6.50 for peewees (ages 4-8) and $9.00 for
juniors (ages 9-14). The cost includes two games of bowling, shoe rental and
ball, an awards ceremony and a pizza party. Registration is at the bowling alley
or the Rec Center.
Monthly meetings are held at the Rec Center the 2nd Tuesday
of the month at 8PM. The season runs from late August through November and
is open to boys Kindergarten through 8th grade and girls 3rd grade through

Gymnastics for Children in grades K-6 at Diamond Gymnastics, 182 Route 10 West.
2009 Classes are Friday
evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 from September 25 through November 20 except for
November 6. The 9-week program costs $115 per
child. Registration is at the Recreation Center up until September 23, or call (973) 428-3095.
For girls in grades K-8. Monthly meetings are held at the
Recreation Center the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:30 pm.

Lessons are given at the Lurrker Park tennis courts on July 15, 17, 19,
22 and 24. Children ages7-14 are welcome to register at the Recreation
Center.
For boys in grades 5 through 8, the season runs March through
June with registration at the Rec
Center in January.

Township Pool News
Members must have a season badge to enter the
pool. Badges are available at the Recreation center; they will not
be available at the pool. Registration for the 2009 season begins April 6
at the Rec Center. The pool opens Memorial Day weekend and will be
open full time starting June 25.

For East Hanover children five years old and up, swim lessons will be
held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for three weeks starting July 6.
Nine lessons will be given for a fee of $45 per child. Register at
the Recreation Center Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.
This is a new program for East Hanover children entering 7th,
8th and 9th grade in the fall. Every Tuesday from
11:30-1:30 they will be able to use the pool. For more information and

Swim Team
The swim team competes in June through early August, for boys and
girls grades 2-12. Registration is in April & May. Check with the Rec Center for
exact dates and times. The websites is

East
Hanover Soccer Club's recreation season runs in September for 8
weeks beginning the first Saturday after school begins. Travel soccer programs
run in the Spring and Fall. There is also a summer soccer camp that runs for two
weeks in August. Visit their website for information throughout the year.

The
East Hanover Pony
& Babe Ruth Leagues run April through June, with registration for boys
ages 13-15 happening in January and February.
Applications are being
accepted for lifeguards and summer playground counselors. Counselors need to be
at least 18; lifeguards need to be at least 16. Applications may be
picked up at the Rec Center Monday - Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm.
The NJ State Police have
revised rules and procedures for background checks for townships and non-profit
organizations. If you'd like to volunteer to coach, please stop by the
Recreation Center and pick up a Universal Fingerprint form. You need to fill it
out and schedule an
appointment with Sagem Morpho Inc. online. For more information, call the
